Safe Start for Little Seed, Let Every Child Grow Safe
In 2026, the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance officially came into effect—a significant milestone for child protection. At Save the Children Hong Kong, we believe safeguarding children goes beyond legal requirements; it also means creating an environment where every child can grow up feeling safe and supported. We encourage you to join us as a Seed Guardian and take action to protect children.
Across families and communities, Save the Children Hong Kong has long promoted positive parenting, strengthened parent–child relations, and helped schools and child-related organisations build strong child-safeguarding cultures and policies, ensuring children can live in a harm-free environment.
Save the Children is committed to partnering with you to be a safety net for children. Join our “Safe Start for Little Seed” initiative, embrace positive parenting, foster a culture of care, and become a Seed Guardian for every child. When children are safe and surrounded by caring adults, they can grow and thrive with confidence.

From Authority to Companion: The Positive Parenting Journey of First-time Parents
For Cheuk and Apple, parents of a four-year-old boy, becoming mum and dad made them realise how deeply their own childhood experiences — marked by scolding, pressure and emotional suppression — have shaped the way they interact with their son.
This reflection motivated the couple to join the Heart to Heart Parent-Child Programme, helping them break away from traditional punitive discipline. Want to see how their journey transformed their family? Watch the video!
The Magic of 15 Minutes of Parent–Child Time
Just 15 minutes a day may seem insignificant, but it can become the most precious “good soil” for a child’s heart — nurturing security, strengthening parent–child bonds and creating positive effects that last far beyond those moments.
Brewing coffee, scrolling through reels or waiting for transport all take about the same amount of time. But spending those 15 minutes reading with your child can build secure attachment, enhance language skills and cultivate empathy — allowing love to take root quietly in everyday life.
During these 15 minutes, parents simply need to set aside their phones and work, giving their full attention to their child — playing, chatting, reading or simply listening. Through gentle touch (like hugs or high-fives) and shared laughter, children experience trust, belonging and the confidence that blossoms from warm, consistent connection.
