A sudden flash flood in Nepal has left children and families with little time to reach safety. The death toll is rising with 157 fatalities reported, and thousands more missing. Tens of thousands of families have been displaced due to massive damage to homes and infrastructure. For children, this displacement can increase the risk of family separation, exposing them to trauma, injury, exploitation, and other protection risks. 

WE ARE RESPONDING

Within hours of the disaster in Nepal, our team distributed essential items to 150 households. Upcoming, our first concern is for children and families’ safety and wellbeing, deploying emergency supplies and meet critical needs:
📍We aim to support 1,000 households with critical life-saving assistance, including water and sanitation.
📍We will distribute essential non-food items, like tarpaulins, baby kits, mosquito nets, dignity and hygiene kits, blankets, kitchen utensils.

Since 1976, we have worked in Nepal alongside children, communities, civil society, and governments to advance children’s rights and improve their well being. We have contributed to expanding access to essential services and strengthening systems that support children to survive, learn, and be protected, with a focus on those most marginalised.

Your donations will be channelled to our Children’s Emergency Fund, and used to empower children and their families devastated by disasters – like the earthquake in Indonesia – to stay safe, healthy and to rebuild their lives. Your donations will support children wherever the need is greatest.
