NEPAL FLOODS
(Data as of 2026/09/25)
A sudden flash flood in Nepal has left children and families with little time to reach safety. The death toll is rising with over 1,453 fatalities reported, and over 5,600 people are still missing. Thousands of families have been displaced due to massive damage to homes and infrastructure. Many children in Nepal have been separated from their parents or are unaccompanied two weeks after devastating flash floods
WE ARE RESPONDING
Our team distributed essential items to around 6,800 people, including over 2,300 children. Our response so far covers essential relief supplies, healthcare, education, and shelter:
📍Provided safe drinking water, hygiene supplies, and sanitation support;
📍Delivered essential supplies to over 1,500 families;
📍Improved conditions in crowded temporary shelters;
📍Set up 4 child-friendly spaces where children can recover, learn and play;
and more supports for children in need.
Moving forward, we aim to expand our relief efforts to reach more children and families, while helping affected children rebuild their normal lives through recovery efforts.
Since 1976, we have worked in Nepal alongside children, communities, civil society, and governments to advance children’s rights and improve their well being. We have contributed to expanding access to essential services and strengthening systems that support children to survive, learn, and be protected, with a focus on those most marginalised.
