A famine is declared in Gaza for the first time since the start of the conflict, putting countless children and their families in dire circumstances.
To declare a famine, Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, the main global hunger monitor, dictates that at least 20 percent of households must experience extreme food scarcity, 30 percent of children must suffer from acute malnutrition, and two people per 10,000 must die daily from starvation.
The situation is worsening in Gaza, but still we remain determined to save the children. Because of public support, we were able to save children in Gaza despite the challenges. Below are some highlights of our works in the first 6 months of 2025:
- Supported over 2,500 infants and caregivers through our Infant and Young Child Feeding interventions
- Assisted over 1,500 people through our Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition programme, and over 28,500 people through the provision of Specialised Food Baskets programme
- Reached over 38,800 people through our outpatient department services and over 7,500 through our reproductive health services
- Supported 3,297 children aged 3-12 at our Temporary Learning Spaces
