After the Tai Po Blaze
Helping Children on Their Path
to Recovery

The Tai Po blaze last year deeply affected many children and families. Over the past months, Save the Children Hong Kong has been working with the community to deliver immediate assistance and long‑term recovery support for affected children and their families.

【OUR NEXT STEPS】

• Provide “Healing Heart and Mind” Expressive Arts Therapy Programme , Play Therapy Programme for affected children, along with ongoing Counselling Support for both children and parents.

• Organise trauma-informed practice and self-care workshops for teachers, parents and caregivers

• Organise outings for children and parents to help them rebuild connection with the community

• Set up Safe Spaces (at schools) to help children to feel safe and calm

• Carry out “Shining Futures Support Programme” to support affected children by funding their simple, self-proposed “wishes” — such as tutoring, sports/arts/music classes, or practical items to help them regain normalcy and strengthen their participation in school and community life.

【WHAT WE HAVE DONE】

• Provided cash assistance to affected Wang Fuk Court students studying in Tai Po schools

• Distributed stationery supplies donated by students from Kellett School to the affected schools

• Delivered 55 sets of children’s tableware, 500 sets of thermal wear and 161 storybooks to affected children living in transitional housing:

• Distributed over 800 pieces of plush toys to kindergarten students in Tai Po to provide instant comfort

• In partnership with Hong Kong Shue Yan University, launched a Children’s psychological support hotline, counselling service, a post‑disaster parenting webinar

Together, we can help affected children and families regain strength and confidence.

Your donations will be channelled to our Hong Kong Programme Fund and used to empower children and their families in need, enhancing their mental health.
