DEVASTATED CHILDREN HERE AT HOME ARE COUNTING ON YOUR IMMEDIATE SUPPORT
In Hong Kong, over 250,000 children live below the poverty line. As the latest outbreak of COVID-19 turns the lives of families upside down, it devastates the education, safety and future of these most vulnerable children. These children and their families are left frightened and confused with all the uncertainties more than ever.
Our new centre in Shamshuipo serves grassroot families, many of whom live in subdivided flats. This is what they have told us:
- Almost two-thirds do not feel that their home environment support online learning, because of space, device and internet connection issues
- Almost half feel that schools closure increases conflicts within the family and leads to poorer parent-child relationship
- 95% of parents indicated being “extremely/very concerned” about their family’s health as well as children’s education, and almost 90% about their children’s social and emotional health
We have been providing emotional support to children, strengthening family relationships and keeping children safe through our Spark of Life programme. Now to combat the worst outbreak of the pandemic in Hong Kong, your donations could help grassroot families with:
