CHALLENGES FACED BY CHILDREN
More than half of the population lives in poverty. Children struggle to access quality healthcare, nutrition and education, with close to two-thirds of children in the second grade being unable to read. Girls are particularly vulnerable to child marriage and teenage pregnancy, with more than half of girls having a child by the age of 19.

OUR PROGRAMMES

Health and Nutrition
Delivering healthcare in some of the toughest and hardest-to-reach places – whether in war zones or remote villages.

Poverty
Improve access to education and develop programmes where children can learn writing, reading, and math skills at an early age, in partnership with the government. Provide strong welfare systems, cash assistance, and climate-smart livelihoods.

Child Protection
Save children who are moving across borders, living on the streets or in refugee camps, and those who are forced into child marriages, dangerous working conditions or child soldiers. Work with families and communities to promote positive social norms and behaviours to prevent violence against children.

Disaster Response
Work with the government to track and contain the spread of cholera through the provision of water and hygiene services, case management, and health staff at cholera treatment centres. Support the Ministry of Education at schools with chlorine, handwashing sets, soap, hand sanitisers, waste bins, and disinfectants.
