CHALLENGES FACED BY CHILDREN
El Niño is driving drought in Northern Ethiopia, while flooding occurs in the east and south every year. These reoccurring natural disasters lead to the critical loss of livestock and livelihoods – as well as widespread displacement and disease outbreaks. More than 20 million Ethiopians – half of them children – need urgent assistance.

OUR PROGRAMMES

Health and Nutrition
Ensure children survive and thrive by strengthening primary health care systems, especially in remote, rural areas. Work closely with partners to advocate for the better control of pneumonia – a leading cause of child deaths that is preventable.

Poverty
Provide early childhood care and development support to ensure children gain the essential literacy and math skills they need to suceed in school. Combat maternal and child undernutrition by empowering families with cash transfers, behaviour change support, and nutrition-specific interventions.

Child Protection
Protect children physically and mentally by providing comprehensive child protection case management, psychological first aid, child and youth resilience building, and other mental health and psychosocial support.

Disaster Response
Deliver effective mobile health and nutrition interventions, ensuring that mothers and children in hard-to-reach areas receive the care they need. Provide school meals to children affected by emergencies to keep them in school.
