War devastates lives, robbing families of essential resources needed for their daily survival. The war in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has tragically claimed over 40,000 lives. More than 1.7 million people were forced to flee their homes in 2024, and devastatingly, many children have died from starvation and malnutrition. In response to the skyrocketing needs, Save the Children delivered critical aid – food, clean water, and hygiene kits – and provided medical care to injured children and those with physical or mental disabilities.

One-year-old Morad was born amidst this devastating conflict, with his home destroyed and essential resources like clean drinking water and food severely limited. Both Morad and his mother were unable to access proper medical care. Deprived of healthcare and adequate nutrition, Morad suffered from serious malnutrition, and his weight plummeted to just 3 kilograms by the age of 10 months. As he was diagnosed with several conditions, including cerebral palsy, laryngomalacia, and epilepsy, his mother spent two and a half months searching for medicines, hindered by medication shortages and exorbitant prices. At this crucial moment, Save the Children intervened by providing vital malnutrition treatment, including ready-to-use therapeutic food and nutritional supplements for Morad and other families with similar challenges.

Recalling her experience, Morad’s mother said, “My son was weak that I couldn’t even hold him. I felt so helpless until I found Save the Children’s clinic. They welcomed us, provided treatment and mental support for my son, restoring my hope. I now believe I can see my son grow up healthy.”

Save the Children remains committed to safeguarding young lives born amidst relentless conflicts. With the right support, children can rise above adversity and find hope again.
