IN HONG KONG
The recent social isolations resulted from the coronavirus pandemic in addition to political and social turmoil in Hong Kong have had a negative impact on children’s mental wellbeing.
- As much as 39% of all primary and secondary students in Hong Kong may have developed symptoms of mental health disorders following a period of political and social turmoil;
- 35% of surveyed children described their home environment as tense or fearful during school suspension;
- The median waiting time for a child to receive mental health care in some areas of Hong Kong in 2020 is 113 weeks.
