HELP MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THE CYCLONE
Cyclone Mocha – one of the strongest storms to hit Myanmar and Bangladesh in over ten years – has left a trail of flooding and destruction.
Millions of people across Myanmar are estimated to have been in the path of the cyclone. We are especially concerned for hundreds of thousands of highly vulnerable internally displaced people from Rohingya and other communities that were living in temporary camps. Neighbouring Bangladesh also sustained damage.
There is an urgent need for fuel for essential public services, including health and water treatment. Public infrastructure, including health clinics, food distribution centres and schools, are damaged or destroyed.
This natural catastrophe couldn’t have come at a worse time. Myanmar is already facing a very uncertain economic environment which has led to a rapidly growing food security crisis. Millions of people are currently moderately or severely food insecure due to the impact of ongoing conflict, displacement, and crisis.
PLEASE DONATE TO SAVE LIVES.
Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995, providing life-saving healthcare, food and nutrition, education and child protection programmes.
Save the Children teams are on the ground in Rakhine and other areas supporting families affected by the cyclone with food, child protection, health services, education, and access to clean water and sanitation.
OUR CHILDREN’S EMERGENCY FUND
Your donations will be channelled to our Children’s Emergency Fund and used to empower children and their families devastated by crisis – like those in Myanmar – to stay safe, healthy and to rebuild their lives. Your donations will support children wherever the need is greatest.
