Project Goal

  • Improving Access to Quality Early Childhood Care and Development Services (ECCD) in Rural Yunnan

Key Achievements

  • Established 2 new ECCD centres in Guineng Village and Mengnong Township, providing activities and free ECCD services for young children (0-6 years old) and their parents
  • Distributed 10 ECCD kits (children’s books, toys and basic teaching aids) in 10 selected remote communities where volunteers will conduct community-based ECCD.

Project Goal

  • To contribute to reductions in under five and maternal mortality in Pernambuco and Bahia states, Brazil, by 2016.

Key Achievements

  • Trained 62 healthcare promoters to spread the word about healthy practices
  • Trained 55 healthcare workers on antenatal and newborn care
  • Provided 58 women with skills to demand improved healthcare for their communities
  • Organized eight drama shows for 1,234 youth
  • Developed six radio programmes that were broadcast by 38 local radio stations

IKEA Funded Program

Project Goal

  • To fulfill migrant children’s rights to play, protection and development in Dachang Town, where there is a migrant population of over 150,000.
  • The project is designed to target migrant children (6-13 years old) in Shenhua Private Migrant School.

Key Achievements

  • A total of 1,000 children directly benefitted from playing in the Children’s Activity Centre and were involved in different kinds of child participation activities. Additionally, 100 care givers were targeted to improve their focus on children’s health and nutrition as well as their parenting skills.
  • About 20 IKEA employees together with their children engaged in 7 events project activities, which including project opening ceremony, parent-child interaction activity on Mothers‟ Day, Water Resource activity, Home safety activity, Green Planting activity, Wall painting activity and project closing ceremony.

EMERGENCY

Hong Kong Government funded emergency response project

Project Goal

  • The project was implemented as a response to the earthquake that struck Daguan County in Yunnan Province on 7th September 2012.
  • The overall objective of the project is to fulfill the basic needs of 2,130 households (4,260 adults and 4,260 children) by providing hygiene, household and first aid kits, and provide 2,000 children with warm clothes in Daguan.

Key Achievements

  • Provision of household, hygiene, and first-aid kits to Tianxing Township of Daguan County. This provision covered all communities, namely 17 communities of Tianxing township.
  • The 2,130 kits were distributed in 17 communities for the identified families from 19th October to 31st October 2012.
  • Provision of basic clothing items for children in Tianxing Township of Daguan County. It is planned to provide 2,000 coats for children most in need from 9 primary schools.
  • The Hong Kong Government’s donation to Save the Children directly reached 2,130 household (4,513 adults and 4,514 children) by kits and 2,000 children with warm coats.
